Victoria Hay - Texas Southern University Category; Documentary Victoria Hay was born in Houston, Texas, and raised in Brusly, Louisiana, a small town just outside of Baton Rouge. She earned her Bachelor's degree in Mass Communications from Southern University and A&M College in December 2020. Driven by a passion for storytelling, Victoria returned to Houston to pursue a Master’s in Professional Communication & Digital Media at Texas Southern University, graduating Summa Cum Laude. Committed to sharing underrepresented Black stories, Victoria is passionate about using film to create change. In her debut documentary, she explores the misrepresentation of African Americans in media.

Danielle Hillie - North Carolina Central University Category: Health and Wellness Danielle Hillie, a native of Concord, NC, is an accomplished author with a passion for storytelling. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications with a concentration in Broadcast Media from North Carolina Central University in 2021. Currently, Danielle is pursuing a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, aspiring to become a screenwriter and filmmaker.

Promise Robinson - Hampton University Category: Family and Faith Promise Robinson, better known as “Prom the Director” is a 2023 graduate of the illustrious Hampton University and an overall creative. She graduated with a B.S in Music Recording Technology in Spring of 2023, and ever since has been perfecting her craft. Promise is dedicated to the arts in every aspect and has always had a heart for the people. Her foundation is music and has been a driving force in her passions, both new and old. Since 2018 Promise has gone by the artist name “Promise.” , leading as a recording artist, engineer, and music producer! While still in love with music, God allowed Promise’s heart to grow. Promise fell in love with the art of film in 2021, and ever since, has done everything from directing, cinematography, and screenwriting. She has had the honor to not only work on her own films, but her peers as well. Promise Robinson is currently attending the University of Georgia pursuing an MFA in Film, Television, and Digital Media. As of now, she has written and directed 6 short films with “…Young,Black and Gifted” being her most recent! Her ultimate goal is to push and elevate the arts, ultimately changing the way we think, create, and live. To build up a community, leaving a guiding light for generations to follow!

Kimarley Henry - Morehouse College Category: Animation Kimarley Henry is an artist from Hartford, Connecticut and recent graduate of Morehouse College, known for his innovative storytelling and vibrant illustrations. As the creator of the comic strip Chad, which began as a beloved feature in Connecticut newspapers, Kimarley's work has evolved into a successful book series and an animated series. With a passion for engaging narratives and dynamic characters, Kimarley continues to inspire audiences of all ages through his creative endeavors, blending humor and heart in every project.

Leah Simone Scott - Howard University Category: Short Leah Simone Scott is a writer, director, and producer from Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. In 2021, she graduated summa cum laude from Howard University with a Bachelor of Arts in Media Journalism and Film. While there, Leah held numerous media internships and externships with companies including National Geographic Partners. In May of 2024, she graduated from Columbia University with an MFA in Film as a Creative Producing concentrate, where she was awarded a prestigious Lenfest Fellowship and Leone Family Production Grant. As of 2024, Leah has written and directed two short films and produced twelve. Her films have screened at numerous festivals including the Oscar-Qualifying New Orleans Film Festival, New York Shorts International Film Festival, Harlem International Film Festival, and the Newark International Film Festival. Her goal is to continue writing, directing and producing unique films that highlight the beauty and complexity of life and promote diversity.

Tramar Pettaway - Elizabeth City State University Category: Mobile Tramar Pettaway is an alum and graduate student at Elizabeth City State University. Tramar has always had a love for creative arts whether it be on stage, behind a microphone in the studio or sitting behind a camera. Growing up he was into music; he started receiving awards from solo vocal competitions at the early age of 12. He is one of the newest members of the ECSU (Elizabeth City State University) 40 under 40 Society. Tramar released his first film last year titled “Footprints of an Angel,” which featured Grammy Award winner Chrisette Michele, who played Ms. Roslyn Jones the journalist. Before getting into film Tramar was kicking up the yellow brick road as the Scarecrow in the New York Black Arts Off- Broadway production of “The Wiz.” Tramar is currently working on 2 new film projects as we speak. Tramar studied the art of writing (playwrighting) in 8th and 12th grade with Emma Walton Hamilton as his teacher. When asked what gives him inspiration for his film he says, “Film ideas come to me at the drop of a dime, sometimes it comes to me randomly and when it does, I write it down, to remember it all.”
